Because all children deserve to be confident (and have fun) in the water.
How It Works
The program is for students who are at least six months old (and sitting unassisted) and is taught by attending one-on-one lessons 5 days per week, 15 minutes per lesson, for 4 weeks.
These lessons allow for consistency and repetition, which we know as parents to be one of the most important and effective ways of teaching.
This is a big commitment for swim lessons, but the rewards are monumental!
Meet Bonnie
Hi, I'm Bonnie.
I am so excited to get to know you and your family.
I am originally from Santa Cruz, CA and ever since I was a tiny kiddo I have adored the ocean. I grew up surfing, playing water polo, and working both as a swim instructor and lifeguard. I was trained as an ISR swim instructor in January of 2014 because my passion for water safety was a priority of mine.
After the birth of my son in 2012, I realized that my biggest fear as a new parent was having my baby boy around water. As much as I love the water, I also know how dangerous it can be if proper precautions are not taken. I wanted nothing more than to help my son learn the skills he needed to stay safe while learning to love the water as much as I do.
Like many of you, I saw an ISR video of a young toddler falling into a pool and miraculously saving himself. I was astounded! What an incredible thing to see. I immediately wanted to know more.
It wasn't long before my son began his ISR lessons and I had the opportunity to watch this incredible program firsthand. We had an extremely positive experience with his lessons - it was a big commitment for our family, and it wasn't always easy - but seeing his little face beam with pride after mastering a new skill or seeing him hug his Instructor and beg to get right back in the pool reassured me that it was all worth it.
Seeing my son complete the ISR program gave me such peace of mind. I truly believe that every child deserves to be taught these skills. I was so moved by our experience with ISR that I looked into becoming an Instructor myself. It has been quite a journey!
My daughter joined our family in 2015 and she's an ISR kid too! I have now taught hundreds of children these life-saving skills and I am so grateful for the opportunity to do so.
As the years went on as an ISR instructor and the skills and growth continued within myself, I started to see how these lessons could get the same results with a 15min one on one lesson, 5 days a week, for 4 weeks which would make these lessons that much more obtainable for families and their busy schedules. After a decade of working with the ISR company, I took a leap of faith and branched out on my own to start Rescue Swim Bay Area. In order to give my students a little bit of extra time to build trust with me, accommodate the busy lives and schedules that families have, and teaching these life saving with the same exactly results as the ISR method with just a little bit more time per day, it was a no brainer for me to make that leap of faith.
